Accredited Photographer of Canada - Canine and Feline Portraits
I woke up to great news this morning!
Last month I submitted my work to get accreditation in the Canine and Feline Portrait categories with the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada). This has been a goal that I’ve had for a while but there was always this little voice in my head talking me out of it. And to be honest, the whole process is nerve-racking! I even had a few peeps telling me that it took them a couple of tries before they got the accreditation in their chosen fields, so I didn’t know what to expect. But I am super proud to say they granted me accreditation in both categories on my first try! YAY
PPOC’s accreditation process recognizes photographers who have reached a nationally accepted standard of proficiency and knowledge in photographic arts. From the PPOC website: An Accreditation is achieved by submitting ten images in a chosen category to a PPOC Board of Review. This peer-reviewed program challenges candidates to demonstrate their capability of delivering exceptional quality photography in a chosen category. In assessing Accreditation Submissions, the judges consider the following criteria: Impact, Creativity, Style, Composition, Presentation, Colour Balance, Centre of Interest, Lighting, Subject Matter, Quality, Technique, and Storytelling.
I want to share a bit of the process with you…
Canine Portrait Accreditation Criteria:
Ten (10) images of ten (10) different dogs, in ten (10) different situations where four (4) images must have been made indoors and four (4) images must have been made outdoors. The other two images may be made in either indoors or outdoors. Must include at least three (3) different dog breeds. Photos may range from including the entire animal in the frame to headshots. A dog portrait photograph may include more than one animal.
