ABOUT THE RESCUE:
Heart and Soul Dog and Cat Rescue Society is a volunteer-run, donation-funded rescue based in Abbotsford, BC. Since 2015, they've been dedicated to improving the lives of unwanted and neglected dogs and cats across the Fraser Valley through compassionate care, responsible adoptions, and a strong focus on spay and neuter initiatives. Their work extends to community cat support, trap-neuter-return programs, and partnerships like the one with Vancouver’s Catfe, where adoptable cats await loving homes. Every animal receives vital vetting and TLC on their journey to a forever family—made possible by generous donors and a passionate network of fosters and volunteers.

“Katherine was amazing to work with. She took ample time to capture multiple different photo options; we never felt rushed! This resulted in so many varied and beautiful shots of our dog that we'll truly value and cherish forever. Katherine is very professional, and the whole process of working with her was seamless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her pet photography to anyone.”

“I couldn't have asked for a better experience with Katherine! She is patient, wonderful, and really understands animal behaviour (a hard thing to come by even in the professional world). I have two senior animals and she let them feel out the situation and get comfortable in their own time without stressing them out or pushing them into something they didn't want to do. I would highly recommend doing a photoshoot with her!”

FAQ
-
Absolutely, that’s what I’m here for! I’ve worked with all kinds of pets, they usually have their own ideas on how the shoot is going to progress, and that’s ok! I always manage to get a range of awesome images. A basic sit-stay is helpful, but with a lot of patience and a bit of direction from their humans we will get the best out of your pet photography experience. So please don’t let your pet’s level of obedience discourage you from applying!
-
Believe it or not, most of the dogs I photograph outdoors are on-leash! I would prefer your dog is comfortable and under control, so working with a leash-on in most instances is the way it has to be. Leash removal is done in the post production stage, so after it's done, you would never even notice it was there.
-
Yes, we welcome all kinds of pets to get involved in the Tails of the World book project to help support other animals in need
-
Don’t worry, I’ll help you choose the perfect outfits! During our consultation, I’ll give you personalized guidance on what to wear to ensure you feel comfortable and look your best in the photos. We’ll make sure your clothing complements the vibe of the session and helps bring out the unique personalities of you and your pet!
-
This applies for pets and little humans, I recommend bringing along anything that makes them feel comfortable and happy during the session. This could include their favorite toy, a special snack, or a small item that makes them feel at ease. We’ll work together to make sure both people and pets feel relaxed and have fun, and I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way to capture beautiful, candid moments. Don’t stress—just bring their awesome personalities.
-
No worries! I can work in a variety of weather conditions, and sometimes a little rain, snow, or fog can add a touch of magic to the session. If the weather is severe or uncomfortable, we’ll simply reschedule to the next available date for everyone’s safety and comfort.
No training required!
All pets are photographed safely on-leash.
